Start Date / Duration

The course will comence 10 September 2019 and will run for 36 weeks, (6 week introductory course and 30 weeks Hairdressing course). You will study on a Tuesday Evening 6.00pm-9.00pm.

Entry requirements
  • NVQ Level 1 in Hairdressing preferably completed at college within the last year, but will consider an NVQ Level 1 completed elsewhere within the last three years
  • You will be required to attend an interview and sit an initial assessment in English and maths
  • A practical skills test is required to determine skill level

Course overview

Become part of the glamorous hair and beauty industry by getting hands-on on one of our hairdressing courses. This qualification is suitable for you if you want to increase your skills and knowledge to become a great hairdresser.

Course content

The course is for Level 1 learners wishing to develop their hairdressing career further. The course covers many aspects of hairdressing, including cutting, colouring, blow drying, perming, setting and dressing long hair.

Learners will take part in various competitions in and out of the college which will then open up more job opportunities upon completion.

How will I be assessed?

  • Online assessments are required to be completed for each unit throughout the course
  • You will have practical assessments to complete for each unit
  • You will require paying clients to complete practical assessments, which must be sourced by yourself
  • If necessary model blocks may be used to assess the perming unit

What equipment will I need?

  • Full hairdressing kit
  • Full uniform
  • Stationery to include files, dividers, pens, writing pad and USB stick

How much does the course cost?

Course fees: £1,000

An introductory 6 week course must be completed at an additional cost of £85, full fee payable.
