Health and Social Care: T Level Supporting The Adult Nursing Team Level 3 Full-time

Entry requirements

  • Five GCSEs at grade 4 or above including GCSE English, Maths, and Science at grade 5 or above.

OR

  • Extended Diploma at Merit grade in a related subject with GCSE English and Maths at grade 4.

Course overview

Studying this course is ideal for students who aspire to work in the health sector. This 2-year course will provide valuable practical and theoretical experience in the sector, covering a range of topics including health, safety and environmental regulations within the industry, good scientific, and clinical practice and providing person-centred care.

T Levels will provide a mixture of:

  • Technical knowledge and skills specific to a chosen industry or occupation.
  • An industry placement of at least 45 days in their chosen industry or occupation.
  • Relevant Maths, English and digital skills which underpin your future role.

Course content

Studying the Health T Level will enable you to develop core skills such as communication, team working, reflective evaluation, researching and presenting.

As part of this course you will study the following topics:

  • Working within the health and science sector
  • The healthcare sector
  • Health, safety and environmental regulations in the health and science sector
  • Health and safety regulations applicable in the healthcare sector
  • Managing information and data within the health and science sector
  • Managing personal information
  • Good scientific and clinical practice
  • Providing person-centered care
  • Health and wellbeing
  • Infection prevention and control in health specific settings
  • Safeguarding

You will also take part in an industry placement of at least 45 days as well as improve on your Maths, English and digital skills.

The T Level is split into two components:

  1. Core Component: (mandatory): This provides knowledge and understanding; underpinning key concepts, theories and principles relevant to the T Level and the subject sector.
  2. Occupational Specialism:  This provides the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to achieve competence in ‘Supporting the Adult Nursing Team’. You will complete one Occupational Specialism, this will provide you with the knowledge and skills required to enter employment or further study in the specific occupational area.

Core Component:

  • Paper A written examination
  • Paper B written examination
  • Employer-set project

In order to achieve a grade for Core Components, you must have results for both sub-components (the core written examinations and the employer- set project).
The combined results for these sub-components will be aggregated to form the overall grade A*- E and U.

Occupational Specialism Component:

  • Synoptic assignments
  • You will also be required to successfully achieve a Distinction/Merit/Pass grade in one of the Occupational Specialism Components

  • Current Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) enhanced disclosure certificate.
  • Text books recommended by your tutor.
  • Willingness to travel to your work placements (this may on occasion involve two bus journeys).
  • Stationery.
  • Barnsley College Tunic will be required as uniform for work placements.

Upon course completion and depending on your chosen occupational specialism you could progress to the following:

  • Employment
  • Higher Education
  • Degree Apprenticeship

How much does the course cost?

16 – 18 year olds

Full-time Barnsley College students aged 16-18 years old do not have to pay tuition fees.

19+ Students

Aged 19 or over and thinking about further education?

Having good English and Maths qualifications are important for most careers and we want to give you the help you need to succeed.

If you are aged 16 – 19 and don’t already have a grade C/4 or above in GCSE English and Maths they will automatically be included in your study programme. If you want to work towards higher grades in English and Maths we can help you do that too.
