You will achieve Level 1 in Engineering.
If you’re interested in a career in Engineering but aren’t quite sure which area to specialise in, our Multi-Trade Engineering programme could be the right course for you.
The programme contains elements of a range of engineering vocations, which will be studied alongside your GCSE Maths and English qualifications. The course is highly practical and is designed to develop a range of knowledge and practical skills to prepare the student for progression onto a specialised Engineering programme.
Through project-based learning you will be introduced to a broad range of skills and knowledge, including electronic assembly, assembling mechanical components, and making engineering components using hand tools. You will also work on your Maths, English and IT to improve your skills, ready for the next level of study or work.
Assessment will be continuous throughout the year.
Equipment will be provided.
You will be given further information regarding what Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) you will need during your interview and enrolment.

Progress onto a specialist programme in Engineering.
Full-time Barnsley College students aged 16-18 years old do not have to pay tuition fees.

Having good English and Maths qualifications are important for most careers and we want to give you the help you need to succeed.
If you are aged 16 – 19 and don’t already have a grade C/4 or above in GCSE English and Maths they will automatically be included in your study programme. If you want to work towards higher grades in English and Maths we can help you do that too.
Need a higher level Maths qualification? We offer a Level 3 Mathematical Studies (Core Maths).
