Cybersecurity and Networking Level 3 Certificate Part-time

In Brief

Start Date / Duration

This course starts w/c 16 September. Days and times tbc but classes will be 6 hours a week for 15 weeks, term-time only. You will also be required to complete additional online learning outside of the timetabled hours.

Entry requirements

There is no requirement for you to have undertaken a specific qualification, but you should be able to demonstrate the skills and ability to study at Level 3 and a reasonable standard of computing skills.

GCSE English and Maths at grade C/4 or equivalent will also provide a good foundation for success. Adults who do not already hold a grade 4 may be able to study these subjects for free.

You must be aged 19 or above to study this course.

Level 3 Certificate in Networking and Cybersecurity

Course overview

This is a modern qualification, developed alongside consultants with years of industry knowledge, which will prepare you to either progress into higher education or prepare you for employment within the digital and creative industries. You can also progress into areas that require specific digital and IT skills within Networking and Cybersecurity.

Course content

Through this course you will understand project management concepts and the processes and tools used by organisations to manage IT projects. You will learn about project management methodologies and use project management software to plan an IT project, track progress, and review the outcomes to determine project success.

The course consists of five units to complete:

  • Project Management
  • Data Communications
  • Ethical Hacking
  • Network Management
  • Network Threats and Vulnerabilities

You will be assessed using a range of methods such as practical tasks and written coursework within a portfolio of evidence. This portfolio will be used to determine your grade.

After successful completion of the course, you could move on to Higher Education, an apprenticeship or employment in a related profession.

How much does the course cost?

This course costs £1645. This course is eligible for the Free Courses for Jobs funding which means you can study this for free if you meet the eligibility criteria. Please see the drop-down option below for more details. If you are not eligible for funding then you may be able to apply for an Advacned Learner Loan to cover the cost of the course.

If you are aged 19 or over, you may not have to pay for this course if:

  • You do not already have a level 3 qualification OR
  • You already have a level 3 qualification or higher but earn below £21,255 annually
  • You already have a level 3 qualification or higher but are unemployed and in receipt of a means-tested benefit.

This course is funded by South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA) and/or West Yorkshire Combined Authority (WYCA). You must be living in the South or West Yorkshire regions to qualify for funding.
