Start Date / Duration

This course will commence September 2019 and runs for two years.

Entry requirements
  • Five GCSEs at grade 4/C or above including maths and English or BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Travel and Tourism (or related subject), graded Merit, plus two GCSEs (including English and preferably maths)
  • Good personal work or school reference demonstrating acceptable level of attendance and commitment to hard work
  • You must be prepared to travel, locally, regionally and internationally, and possess good communication skills. You must also be of smart appearance with high level of personal hygiene
You will achieve
  • BTEC National Diploma/Extended Diploma in Travel and Tourism Level 3
  • Certificate in Introduction to Air Cabin Crew Level 2

Course overview

You are choosing to follow a career in a dynamic and challenging industry that offers lots of variety and employment opportunities at all levels. You might be interested in living abroad, in transport and tour operations or working in visitor attractions. Whatever you choose, this course will get you on the right path!

Course content

You will study 14 interesting and varied Travel and Tourism units, which may include:

  • Investigating the Travel and Tourism industry
  • The Business of Travel and Tourism
  • UK destinations
  • Customer service
  • Retail travel operations
  • Long haul destinations
  • Working as a holiday representative
  • Organising a Travel and Tourism study visit
  • Investigating the cruise industry
  • Preparing for employment

You will also study towards a Level 2 Certificate in Introduction to Air Cabin Crew

You will be assessed on your practical work and coursework.

What can I do next?

Employment

on completion of this course, you could progress to a range of different careers within air cabin crew, airport operations, holiday companies, visitor attractions or conferencing.
Education

You could use this qualification to gain entry to university – HND or degree.

How much does the course cost?

 

 

16 – 18 year olds

Full-time Barnsley College students aged 16-18 years old do not have to pay tuition fees.

19+ Students

Aged 19 or over and thinking about further education?
