This course next starts in September 2024. Classes are for one evening a week. There are other short Childcare courses starting in January and April.

  • There are no prior entry requirements for this course.

You will achieve

Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Safeguarding and Prevent.

This course is available as part of a package of short Childcare courses. Students can start this courses in September, January and April.

The qualification is designed to increase your knowledge and awareness of the Prevent Duty and safeguarding, including online safety.

Course content

You will study:

  • Unit one: Understanding the Prevent Duty
  • Unit two: Understanding Safeguarding
  • Unit three: Understanding Online Safety

You will be assessed via online coursework.

You will require stationery, a folder and a USB.

You could progress to our Access to Higher Education courses including Access to Childcare and Access to Health and Social Care.

How much does the course cost?

This course is FREE for all learners.

Extra information

Part-time courses are only available for learners who are 19 years old and above. You may not have to pay for this course if you are employed but earn below £21,255 a year, or if you receive Job Seekers Allowance, Employment and Support Allowance or Universal Credit. If you are unemployed, actively seeking employment and receive Council Tax Benefit, Housing Benefit, Income Support or WFTC then you may also receive funding for this course. You will need to provide evidence of your eligibility which will be checked at enrolment.

This course is funded by South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA) and/or West Yorkshire Combined Authority (WYCA). You must be living in the South or West Yorkshire regions to qualify for funding.
