About the event
The Barnsley Construction Skills Village is running practical taster sessions in a range of construction trades for anyone who is interested in a career within the industry.
The taster sessions will run on the following days:
- Brickwork – Wednesday 6 December 12 noon to 3.00pm
- Joinery – Wednesday 13 December 12.00 noon to 3.00pm
- Goundworks – Tuesday 19 December 9.00am to 12 noon
- Multi-trade – Friday 5 January 9.00am to 12 noon
All sessions will take place at the Skills Village on Lambra Road in Barnsley and visitors will get the opportunity to take part in practical construction activities; providing them with a taste of what it is like to work on a real construction site, go on a tour of the Skills Village, get advice and guidance about construction careers and sign up to courses offered at the Skills Village.
The Skills Village, a collaboration between Henry Boot Construction, Northern Regeneration, Barnsley College and Barnsley Council, allows students to work on a live construction site and get first-hand practical experience of what it is like to work on a construction build.
Kevin Scholey, Head of Construction at Barnsley College, said: “The taster sessions are open to everyone and are the perfect way to find out more about the construction industry. The Skills Village is a unique venture that provides invaluable experience for anyone wanting to work in construction.”
Visit the Skills Village website for more information about the sessions.
