AAT Advanced Diploma in Accounting (Level 3)

Course overview

The AAT Accounting qualification gives you the relevant and practical skills to do a wide range of accounting and finance jobs.
In this qualification you will master more complex accounting disciplines including financial processes, advanced bookkeeping, final accounts and ethical practices for accountants.

If you successfully complete this qualification, you can apply for AAT associate bookkeeping membership and achieve professional AATQB status.

Course content

You will study the following units:
Management Accounting: costing is a unit that looks at costing methods, allocation of costs and decision making in the long and short term
Advanced bookkeeping and final accounts preparation involves learning how access year end adjustments and prepare sole trader and partnership accounts
Indirect Tax: builds an understanding of VAT and how to prepare a VAT return
Spreadsheets is a unit that involves using Excel software to prepare financial information
Ethics for Accountants looks at your responsibilities as a trainee accountant and how you will be expected to conform to current legislation

You will be assessed by computerised based examinations after the completion of each core unit, with a final synoptic assessment that assesses knowledge and understanding from across the qualification.

You will need to provide your own calculator, text book and writing materials.

If you’re undertaking an Access to Higher Education (HE) course and then go on to complete an HE qualification, the outstanding balance of your Advanced Learner Loan will be written off, once you have fully completed both courses, without taking any gap years.
