Level 1 Award in Computer Aided Design Using Parametric Modelling Software

Course overview

Learn the essential skills in how to use Computer Aided Design software in our excellent construction department and purpose developed IT suite. You will learn how an object is designed in either 2D or 3D and how objects can be manufactured. This unit will equip you with an understanding of the CAD Parametric Modelling environment, in terms of hardware, software and physical surroundings. You will explore the typical composition of a CAD Parametric Modelling system and Health and Safety matters that are associated with safe working practices.

Course content

You will receive training and development towards the Unit 101 Computer Aided Design Using Parametric Modelling Software . Within the course, you will develop the required skills and knowledge towards the following areas, leading to successful completion of the final assignment.

You will be able to:

  • Use a parametric modelling workstation safely
  • Use key components used in parametric modelling software
  • Use commands to create and constrain sketches
  • Use commands to produce features
  • Use placed features to modify parametric models
  • Create an assembly
  • Produce output using the drawing layout environment

This qualifications is assessed by an assignment set by City & Guilds, internally marked by the centre and externally verified. This assignment is graded Pass, Merit and Distinction.
The assignment consists of a practical task and short-answer questions.

The cost of the course is £390.  Funding may be available.
