Start Date / Duration

The course will begin in September 2023 and will last for 30 weeks.

Entry requirements

64 UCAS points from either:

  • A minimum of two A Levels
  • A T Level in a related subject
  • 60 Access to HE credits (of which a minimum of 45 must be at Level 3) in a related subject

You will also need GCSE English and Maths at grade C/4 or above

You will achieve

HNC in Creative Digital Media Production.

Course overview

This is a contemporary, cutting-edge programme which will enable you to follow a career in various job roles within games development, photography and film.

The broad range of modules offered by this programme allows you to develop professional, practical and transferable skills which will enhance future employment opportunities.

Having been developed in collaboration with employers in an ambition to meet the needs of the growing demands of the industry, the course provides the opportunity to gain the proper training, knowledge and skills to be successful in the workplace.

Course content

The course offers three pathways: Film, Games Development and Photography.

You will study a range of units on each pathway as listed below:

Common units:

  • Individual project (set by Pearson)
  • Creative media industry
  • Professional practice is a mandatory unit for all pathways. You will specialise in one area and study modules specific to your chosen pathway.

  • Film practices
  • Film studies
  • Editing for film and television
  • Light and sound
  • Visual effects practices

Games

  • Games Development
  • Games in context
  • Game design
  • 3D modelling
  • Principles of animation

Photography

  • Photographic practices
  • Studio photography
  • Image management and editing techniques
  • Principles of photography
  • Reportage

Core knowledge and understanding is acquired via lectures, seminars, workshops, group work, computer assisted learning, case studies, video and other multi-media presentations.

You will complete project-based assessments which will combine several units to give you an employment-based assessment. The teaching will reflect the project approach and will include aspects of teamworking.

Remember: Eligible students will not have to pay tuition fees in advance and can apply for the Maintenance Loan before they start the course.
