This study programme starts in September and runs for one year.

Entry requirements

Four GCSEs at grade 3 or above including English and Maths. Where applicants do not meet the entry requirements, the tutor may use their discretion based on a good personal reference and/or successful interview.

Course overview

This course provides you with a wide range of skills for an array of exciting Computing and IT-based careers including network management, web development, software development and mobile-application development.
You will be taught by passionate IT practitioners who bring with them a wealth of experience and knowledge as well as have access to high-end specialist equipment, large collaborative learning environments and high-specification computer and networking labs.

This course also helps us to ensure that you have the breadth of skills required to progress to apprenticeships, employment or Higher Education.

Level 2 course specifications

 

 

Two of the units are externally assessed and the rest are assessed using various assignments and continually assessed.

You will require a 8gb USB Flash Drive along with a folder and paper, pens and pencil.

Upon completion, you could progress onto a level 3 full time programme or apprenticeship.

How much does the course cost?

16 – 18 year olds

Full-time Barnsley College students aged 16-18 years old do not have to pay tuition fees.

19+ Students

Aged 19 or over and thinking about further education?

You may be eligible for free or reduced course fees . Please refer to our page ‘paying for your course.’

Barnsley College has a range of sports opportunities for all students to take part in, gain professional training and compete nationally and internationally. You don’t have to be studying sport to get involved in the Sports Academy.

Having good English and Maths qualifications are important for most careers and we want to give you the help you need to succeed.

If you are aged 16 – 19 and don’t already have a grade C/4 or above in GCSE English and Maths they will automatically be included in your study programme. If you want to work towards higher grades in English and Maths we can help you do that too.

Need a higher level Maths qualification? We offer a Level 3 Mathematical Studies (Core Maths).

This can be added to your study programme.
