Making your application to study Higher Education is an important decision and you need to give yourself as much time as possible to work on it. Research Colleges and Universities, attend UCAS exhibitions and Open Events.
Here are some key dates to guide you through the full-time undergraduate UCAS application process.
4th September 2019 – The UCAS application process opens for 2020 applicants.
October – December 2019 – work on your UCAS application and personal statement.
16th October 2019 – Open Event
23rd November 2019 – Open Event
15th January 2020 – UCAS application deadline for all courses. **
30th January 2020 – Open Event
25th February 2020 – UCAS Extra opens. If you’ve used all five choices and you’re not holding any offers, you might be able to add another choice.
5th May 2020 – Decision time. If you receive all your uni/college decisions by 31 March 2020, you must reply to any offers by today, otherwise they’ll be declined.
6th May 2020 – If you applied by the 15th January 2020 deadline, this is the deadline for us to give you a decision.
4th June 2020 – If you receive all your uni/college decisions by 6 May 2020, you must reply to any offers by today, otherwise they’ll be declined.
18th June 2020 – If you receive all your uni/college decisions by 4 June 2020, you must reply to any offers by today (except if you are using Extra to find a place), otherwise they’ll be declined.
27th June 2020 – Open Event
30th June 2020 – You can still apply with up to five choices on your UCAS Undergraduate application form until 18:00 (UK time) today. After this time, you will automatically be entered into Clearing.
Applying directly through Clearing means that as opposed to having five choices, you will be applying for a single university at a time.
5th July 2020 – Last day to apply through extra.
6th July 2020 – Clearing opens
13th July 2020 – If you applied by 30 June this is the deadline for us to give you a decision.
20th July 2020 – If you receive all uni/college decisions by 13 July – including Extra choices – you must reply to any offers by today (otherwise, they’ll be declined, and your application will be entered into Clearing if you’re eligible).
4th August 2020 – SQA results day. (GOOD LUCK)
13th August 2020 – A Level results day. (GOOD LUCK)

17th August 2020 – Open Event
31st August 2020 – If you have any outstanding offer conditions, they must be met by today – otherwise, the uni or college might not accept you.
14th September 2020 – Enrolment week.
21st September 2020 – Start of term.
21st September 2020 – Deadline for 2020 UCAS Undergraduate applications (18:00 UK time).
20th October 2020 last chance to add clearing choices and for unis and colleges to accept applicants in Clearing.
** Applications for 2020 entry should reach UCAS by 15 January 2020. Don’t worry if you miss the deadline, you can still apply to study higher education at Barnsley College via UCAS up until the summer. However, please be aware that offers are dependent on the availability of places so we would advise you to apply early.
