Higher Education Application Timetable

Making your application to study Higher Education is an important decision and you need to give yourself as much time as possible to work on it. Start by researching colleges and universities that offer the courses you are interested in; then attend UCAS exhibitions and Open Events to find out more about each institution.

Key Dates

Here are some key dates to guide you through the full-time undergraduate UCAS application process.

2023 entry

If you’d like to study with us in September 2023, here’s the key dates you need:

17 May 2022 – UCAS Undergraduate application opens for 2023 entry.

6 September 2022 – You can pay and send your completed 2023 applications to UCAS from this date and universities and colleges can start making decisions on applications.

October – December 2022 – work on your UCAS 2022 application and personal statement.

3 October 2022 – Application deadline for conservatoire music applications. Applications for dance, drama, and musical theatre courses may have a different deadlines, so check conservatoires’ websites for information.

15 October 2022 – Application deadline for Oxford, Cambridge and most courses in medicine, dentistry and veterinary science. You must apply by 6.00pm (UK time).

25 January 2023 – UCAS application deadline for all other courses. You must apply by 6.00pm (UK time). **You can still apply to Barnsley College Higher Education after this date.

23 February 2023 – UCAS Extra opens. If you’ve used all five choices and you’re not holding any offers, you might be able to add another choice.

18 May 2023 – Decision time. If you applied by 6.00pm on 25 January 2023 and you’re awaiting a decision from one of your choices; universities/colleges have until today to decide whether they’re making you an offer. If you’ve received all your university/college decisions, you must reply to any offers by today, otherwise they’ll be declined.

8 June 2023 – Decision time. If you applied by 6.00pm on 18 May 2023 and you’re awaiting a decision from one of your choices; universities/colleges have until today to decide whether they’re making you an offer. If you’ve received all your university/college decisions, you must reply to any offers by today, except if you’re using Extra to find a place, otherwise they’ll be declined.

30 June 2023 – You can still apply with up to five choices on your UCAS Undergraduate application form until 6.00pm (UK time) today. After this time, you will automatically be entered into Clearing. Applying directly through Clearing means that you will be applying for a single university at a time.

4 July 2023 – Last day to apply through Extra.

5 July 2023 – Clearing opens.

12 July 2023 – Decision time. If you applied between 25 January and 30 June 2022 and you’re awaiting a decision from one of your choices; universities/colleges have until today to decide whether they’re making you an offer. If you’ve received all your university/college decisions, you must reply to any offers by today, otherwise they’ll be declined.

17 July 2023 – If you applied by 12 July in Extra, you must reply to any offers by today, otherwise they’ll be declined, and your application will be entered into Clearing (if you’re eligible).

17 August 2023 – A Level and T Level Results Day.

21 September 2023 – Final date for 2023 entry applications.

16 October 2023 – Last date to add 2023 entry Clearing Choices.

17 October 2023 – This is the last date a university or college can accept an applicant in Clearing.

2024 entry

2024 entry dates are coming soon. Keep checking back for further details.

** Applications for 2023 entry should reach UCAS by 25 January 2023. Don’t worry if you miss the deadline, you can still apply to study Higher Education at Barnsley College via UCAS up until the summer. However, please be aware that offers are dependent on the availability of places so we would advise you to apply early.**
