Welding – Plate Welder Level 3 Apprenticeship

You will be able to join this course at any time throughout the year. This is a 36-month apprenticeship.

Entry requirements

All apprentices will need to achieve at least Level 2 in Maths and English, or equivalent, prior to completing their End-point Assessment (EPA).

There is no official qualification attached to this course. The completion of this course is designed to prepare you to meet the requirements for registration as an Engineering Technician with The Welding Institute.

 

 

 

Course overview

This apprenticeship will enable you to reach a high standard of welding, giving you the ability to manually weld plate and structural components using two welding processes.

These types of welding processes are used widely throughout the engineering industry and will ensure you are fully equipped to get your career off to a good start following your apprenticeship.

Course content

Some of the key topics you will study and gain skills in throughout your course include: health and safety, two different welding processes, and other practical workshop tasks.

Assessment methods for this apprenticeship include practical assessments, coursework and exams.

All equipment will be provided.

How much does the course cost?

There is no cost to being an apprentice. All costs associated with your apprenticeship, including the cost of training and your salary, will be paid by your employer.

Barnsley College has a range of sports opportunities for all students to take part in, gain professional training and compete nationally and internationally. You don’t have to be studying sport to get involved in the Sports Academy.

Having good English and Maths qualifications are important for most careers and we want to give you the help you need to succeed.

If you are aged 16 – 19 and don’t already have a grade C/4 or above in GCSE English and Maths they will automatically be included in your study programme. If you want to work towards higher grades in English and Maths we can help you do that too.

Need a higher level Maths qualification? We offer a Level 3 Mathematical Studies (Core Maths).

This can be added to your study programme.
