We have become a Natspec Affiliate Member!

Barnsley College has become an affiliate member of Natspec, an organisation that specialises in Further Education for young people aged 16 to 25 with learning difficulties and/or disabilities.

The college’s Learning for Living and Work department offers study programmes which support students with learning disabilities, difficulties and/or complex learning needs and prepares them for either independent living or supported employment. With the successful delivery of these study programmes, the College contributes to creating opportunities for young people with disabilities.

Natspec is the membership association for specialist colleges and organisations which offer specialist provision for students with learning difficulties and disabilities. The Natspec membership gives Barnsley College access to training and development opportunities and resources.

Nicola Thomson-Dewey, Head of the Learning for Living and Work at Barnsley College, said: “We are excited to be part of the Natspec community as it will allow us to continue to provide the very best provision to our students.

“As members, our specialist teachers will be able to access Continuing Professional Development specific to Special Educational Needs and Disability and share best practice, ensuring their knowledge is current which will have a long-lasting benefit to our students.”
