A step by step guide to applying for an apprenticeship
Step 1: Search
Step 2: Apply
To apply for a specific apprenticeship job vacancy, go to our Apprenticeship vacancies page. This lists all the current apprenticeship vacancies we have and you can apply online for your chosen job. This page is updated on a weekly basis, so remember to keep checking back for any new jobs that might have been posted.
Step 3: Approval Session
You will be invited into College to attend an approval session with an assessor. Remember to bring proof of your qualifications and a copy of your CV, if you haven’t already submitted it to us. If you need help with your CV take a look at our tips for writing a good CV page, or pop into our Job Shop at Old Mill Lane for advice on CV writing.
It’s really important you attend this session as your application will not be put forward for any apprenticeship jobs without attending it. Please call our Apprenticeship Team on 01226 216 153 if you need to rearrange your appointment.
Step 4: Interview Shortlisting
We will send your CV to the employer who will choose the candidates they wish to interview.
Step 5: Employer Interview
If you are selected, you will be invited to attend an interview with the employer. Be prepared! If you’re unsuccessful, don’t worry because you have gained valuable experience. Simply start your search again. You can take a look at our interview tips to help you prepare.
Step 6: Induction
If you are offered the job, we will contact you and arrange for you to come into College to complete your induction and meet your assessor.
Step 7: Start your Apprenticeship!
You can start an apprenticeship at any time during the year.
