Do you want to excite other people about their own hair and help them take care of it? Then this qualification could take you to where you want to be.
The Level 1 Certificate in Hairdressing (NVQ) prepares you for a career in the hairdressing industry. It can lead to a job as a junior in the salon assisting the hair stylist/colour technician and is a great start into a career in hairdressing.
The subject units you will study are:
• Health and safety in the salon.
• Consultation, communication, and customer service.
• Shampooing and conditioning hair.
• Finishing hair (including setting hair).
• Plaiting hair.
• Theory (including science to give knowledge and understanding to support practical application).
Following the Level 1 Certificate in Hairdressing, the natural progression would be Level 2 Hairdressing. By achieving Level 1 it allows you to progress to Level 2 full-time course or an apprenticeship in Hairdressing after finishing school. Why not give yourself a head start?
If you join the course late in the academic year and you don’t complete the whole course, you will be awarded a Barnsley College certificate. On gaining the qualification or the certificate, we will welcome your application to study with us further.
