All pupils who successfully complete the Vocational Taster Programme in Foundation Learning will be guaranteed a place at College when they leave school.
Where schools have pupils who are not appropriate for the Skills Academy programme, the Foundation Learning Department will continue to offer individualised programmes where 14-16 year olds can infill into existing provision.
Students can access vocational tasters in the following areas:
- Animal Care
- Art, Design and Fashion
- Catering and Hospitality
- Childcare and Education Professions
- Engineering (Go Kart Project)
- Hair and Beauty
- Health, Science and Social Care Professions
They will also work towards the AIM Award Skills for Working Life and Employment and City and Guilds Functional Skills maths and English at Entry Level/Level 1/Level 2 (which are accepted as entry qualifications on mainstream vocational courses in the College). Pupils can also access enrichment, enterprise and volunteering activities.
